National Video Games Day!
September 12th is National Video Games Day!
As someone who has had the privilege of being exposed and playing video games for most of his life, I relive the years of game consoles i've played and owned through the years.
Today, what we call video games can be played on everything from computer, to smartphones, to specialty devices (Game & Watch, Nintendo Switch, Playstation Vita), to home consoles (Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, etc). Almost EVERYONE plays video games today in some shape or form... that is why it has become a $180.3 BILLION dollar a year Industry (in 2021)!
But what I recall and miss the most is the interaction and fond memories which included playing with friends and family watching each other... like in the same room... and space (screens were alot smaller then too!). It was not a solitary event, though it could be.
We can get some of that "shared gaming community" feeling on Twitch, or in watching Youtube videos of players beating a certain level, but it will never beat the interaction of your friend slapping the controller out of your hand so you won't beat their top score. LMAO.
